As an intern in my first week with the Fabric Stock Exchange, I have already had the chance to learn a great deal about the fashion industry. I have participated in two webinars that highlighted trends for the upcoming Fall and Spring seasons. Both power points were very interesting which led me to do a little more research and compare the trends of a couple different sites. Nowadays, trends are moving so rapidly that it’s hard to keep up with the pace. Don’t you agree?
Stylesight and Infomat seem to have similar paths and are showing decorative and intricate designs and colors, while Pantone chooses bold and bright colors accented with neutrals. They all agree that you can’t go wrong with brights, and flowers are seen blooming in every direction. (Flowers have always been a personal favorite , and I’m so excited that I have a new reason to add more to my collection). Prints mixed with patterns and beading on top of embroidery are creating interesting pieces and unique looks. Stylesight is showing leather and denim garments that are soft and fluid, in silhouettes that are new and modern in look and feel, not just the same old structured jackets and jeans. Symmetric and modern shapes have popped up on all three trend sites and are consistently shown in bright colors. Check out the new trends at Stylesightings. Notice the use of turquoise throughout. Maybe it’s because Pantone has chosen this hue as the 2010 color of the year! What’s your favorite color or trend for the upcoming season?
