I am very often asked by new designers about the best way to find what they are looking for in terms of fabrics, trims, notions, you name it. I can’t help but think that one of the biggest challenges in the Apparel Industry today is finding new resources and suppliers that meet the needs of the smaller to mid-size companies, don’t you agree? And while I have a few ideas for these fresh faced, bright-eyed newbies, I want to know what you think as well. What do you find works best for you? Tradeshows, online research, social media, trade associations, directories? And on the flip side, what doesn’t work at all?
And for my fabric company friends, what do you find to be the most successful way of reaching new customers? Trade Shows? Your Own Company Website? Directories? Referrals?
What I am really wondering is how we at Textile Talk can be more effective at giving you, whether an industry novice or a seasoned pro, the information that you want. Is there anything we can we do to help you find the fabric you need? We are here to be your resource!
I look forward to your answers and continuing the conversation.
